DJ Guv – Warning LP
£0.99 – £7.99
The wait is finally over. The huge Warning LP is out now on Dubz Audio, gathering together a trailer load of tracks from label owner and producer DJ Guv. New beats, alongside updated versions of stand out classics, the album is guaranteed to please fans old and new.
Starting off with the massive Warning, surely one of the biggest and best tunes of the year, the album immediately means business. But it’s about more than just this anthem, as Guv treats us to heavy hitters like Chopper and Novation, before the cataclysmic Bare Face. This one begins with sliding electronics, before dropping down into some mean and moody bassline business.
2014’s colossal Slice & Dice gets its very own album version (the ‘Warning Edition’), as the classic is beefed up to be bigger, better and badder. Guv pulls no punches, laying it all out on track after track, with effective drums and killer bass on display at all times.
Snake Style Refix is another one that’s going to have an impact, with anthem status already confirmed. The album’s gathered support from the likes of Sigma, DJ Hype, Friction, Hazard and more, and it’s not hard to see why, with cuts like Vision and Bloodclaart showing the pride, passion and emotion of Guv’s music. The former starts slowly, building up over time, with squelching bass coming in after the intro, alongside deep atmospherics and creeping samples. The tune shows the range of skills Guv has at his disposal, before Bloodclaart unleashes its pure aggression for the dancefloor. Rattling beats mash your brain while the recessed bass gets you moving, as the producer strips things back to reinforce his message.
Closers Steppers and Igloo Bass continue the variety, with the former cutting and snaking its way into life, with resounding drums echoing around the mix, backed up by snarling, live-sounding low end. Igloo Bass carries on the assault, rounding the album out with a show of force, reminding listeners of the power of Guv’s music from start to finish.
